1¾ cups water
3½ tablespoons sugar
¾ cup finely shredded fresh basil
One 3-inch piece of cinnamon stick
2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan.
2. Add the basil and cinnamon and simmer over low heat until reduced to 1 cup, about 10 minutes.
3. Cool to room temperature, then strain.
4. Stir in the lemon juice.
